Before a stone is set, our bench on Hill Street grades it by hand for cut, color, clarity and carat. We record the results under a unique certificate ID and print it on a card that ships in your box.

The same record lives online, so you can check it any time, share it with an insurer, or hand it on with a gift. It stays tied to your piece for as long as you own it.

The 4CsCut, color, clarity and carat, graded by hand. Our standard is VS clarity and F–G color.
MeasurementsThe stone's size in millimeters, so you know exactly what you're wearing.
The settingMetal, gold color, setting style and backing, recorded for future care.
OriginLab-grown by CVD. Real diamond, grown not mined.
Date setThe day your stone was set by hand on Hill Street.

Your Don Key certificate is issued by us, not by an outside gem lab. Every stone is graded by people who have spent their careers in the Los Angeles diamond district, and we stand behind every grade we record.

Where do I find my certificate ID?

It's printed on the certificate card in your gift box, under the QR code. It looks like DK-2026-0001.

I lost my card. Can I still see my certificate?

Yes. Your certificate lives online. If you don't have the ID, email info@donkey.la with your order number and we'll send it, plus a replacement card if you'd like one.

Can I share it or give it with a gift?

Of course. Share the link or print it from the certificate page. You can also ask us to add a gift note before we ship.

Does it work with lifetime care?

Yes. Include your certificate ID when you book a care service and we'll match your piece to its record.

Do you offer outside lab reports?

Our certificates are graded in-house. If you need anything extra for insurance or resale, email us with your certificate ID and we'll walk you through your options.
